THEN & NOW

CHARLES RICHARD LONG graduated Northeast High School in 1941. When he went to Thou Dear, he was known as Victor Long. He was a member of the R. O. T. C. Northeast Battalion as a Sophomore and Junior. However, he was not a member in his Senior year.

He was killed in action during the Korean War. He gave his life to keep his buddies from being killed.

An interesting coincidence is that CHARLES graduated in the same Class of '41 that MORTON "MORT" WALKER did. Around the same era of time that he was in Korea, MORT was introducing his "BEETLE BAILEY" comic strip about Army life.
