DON attended pre-school and Kindergarten at Bristol School in Independence, Missouri before attending Gladstone Elementary
School from the 1st Grade on. He then attended Grades 7-9 at Northeast Junior High School and Grades 10-12 at Northeast High
School, or as it was affectionately known as, "The Senior Building". He then attended Kansas University for 4 years with Voice
and Music education as a double-major where he began his singing career in 1956 as top tenor in a male quartet. That group
was part of a USO show that went to Europe and North Africa to entertain the U.S. troops. However, he dropped out before grautating
in order to pursue a professional music career as a bass fiddle player in Kansas City. He played bass for Marilyn Maye. He
then got married and moved to Omaha where he led his own group for a while. He did play one gig with the Stan Kenton orchestra
in 1961 and also sang and played at the Firehouse Dinner Theatre from 1972-1975. He then moved to New York and sang with a
group called The Hightones for 3 years and also sang in some off-off Broadway productions. Then he auditioned for The Four
Lads in 1984, moving up to lead tenor and has sung with them ever since. He now resides in Fort Worth, Texas.
