RICHARD LOCKRIDGE was born September 26, 1898 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He died June 19, 1982 in Tryon, North Carolina.
He graduated Northeast High and started writing mystery novels. He once wrote an article about his English teacher, MISS
ELLEN E. FOX, for "The New Yorker" magazine. He later married FRANCES and together they created the "Mr. & Mrs. North"
characters for a series of stories for "The New Yorker" magazine. The characters were a big favorite on radio and were also
seeon on "Broadway" and in the movies. In the 1950's a Comedy Mystery TV show was made called, "Mr. & Mrs. North", It
starred BARBARA BRITTON as, "Pamela North", Richard Denning as, "Jerry North", and Francis DeSales as, "Lt. Bill Wigand". "Jerry
North" was a publisher of mystery stories who considered himself to be good at amateur detective work. His wife, although
a little naive, seemed to be able to solve crimes quicker than him and the police. They lived in Greenwich Village, but instead
of a normal existence, seemed to keeping tripping over dead bodies. The show aired from October 1952 to September 1953 on
CBS, Fridays from 9:00 to 9:30 pm CST. It then aired from January 1954 to July 1954 on NBC, Tuesdays from 9:30 to 10:00 pm
CST. Some of the shows can be found on DVD's.
NOTE: His Nor'easter write-up would make you think he would be a humor writer. However, he ended up writing mystery
stories.
